I’ve been doing crossfit since February but started getting really serious about it in July. You will NOT find anything like Crossfit elsewhere — it’s varying workouts of functional movements at high intensity. You have a different workout everyday and sometimes you will repeat them (which is great so you can see if you’ve improved in speed/endurance or strength). One of my most challenging workouts was 12 rounds of 10 pullups and 15 pushups for TIME. I finished in 27 minutes flat. So tough.
Anyway, last year I was really into running (and I still am) but it didn’t really do anything for me. I need to be pushed to my limits and I need someone to do it for me, haha. This is why crossfit works for me. You work out in a group setting with a coach and he/she tells you how you should be scaling down your workout, if necessary. And the community is the best part. You’d think in a group setting you’d be competing against others, right? Nope. You’re competing against yourself and you have all these peers who are helping to push you forward. I LOVE cheering on my peers while I’m working out. Encouragement is important! People need to hear they’re kicking ass!
I get up at 5 am 3x a week to get seriously WORKED to the point of sickness but in the end, it’s all worth it.
